President
Chris Howell currently serves as president and managing member at SensorTech. His responsibilities include oversight of long-range strategic planning, finance, sales, software and hardware developments, and operations. He is also responsible for maintaining a variety of external relationships with customers and vendors. Chris graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting.
Founder/Co-Lead Design Engineer
Gerald Rues is the founder of Electronic Sensors, Inc., which he started in 1983. Before founding ESI he started three companies and then later sold ESI to SensorTech in 2023. He obtained associate and bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering technology from the Missouri Institute of Technology in 1973 and 1975, respectively. Gerald worked as a flight test engineer at Boeing in Wichita, Kansas, for 12 years. He continued his education while teaching at Wichita State University and completed a Masters of Electrical Engineering degree in 1981.
Quality Control and Technical Support
Mike Ast currently serves as a quality control and technical support lead at SensorTech. He ensures all manufactured items pass the required testing before shipment. Mike assists customers with new installations and other technical support needs as well. Mike has a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Wichita State University.
Director of Technology
Andrew Trefethen serves as director of technology at SensorTech. He is responsible for solidifying technical objectives given the vision set by the president, input from the design team, and the resources available to the business. Andrew has particular responsibility over the software assets of the business; contributing greatly to the technical implementation, overall software architecture, and best practice development standards. Andrew graduated from Northeast Magnet High School in 2013, attended Wichita State University for computer science, and has eight years of experience developing complete technical solutions for businesses as an independent contractor.
